03/07/2007

Shell Energy Europe BV, the European natural gas marketing business of Royal Dutch Shell plc., announced today that Shell Hungary Zrt. is expanding its activities into natural gas marketing. Following the successful conclusion of a recent license application process, the company has already concluded its first gas sales and purchase agreements with suppliers and industrial customers in Hungary.

"Shell has been present in the dynamic Hungarian energy sector for more than 80 years and we are thrilled to start marketing natural gas here" said István Varga, Shell Hungary Country Chair. "Hungary's gas market is growing and, for Shell, the start of gas marketing activities there is a further milestone in our broader strategy of expanding our presence in the pan-European gas market."

Michael O'Callaghan, Executive Vice President Europe, Russia, and Central Asia, Shell Gas & Power added "Hungary is the 17th and newest country addition to Shell's strategy of strengthening its position as a pan-European natural gas marketer. What we can offer in the Hungarian gas market is the combination of our local experience and Shell's unique portfolio of diversified supplies, which includes our own gas production as well as 3rd party volumes."
